About Me

I attribute my success to three elements: hard work, passion and a little bit of luck. When I first heard about Rockstar INXS, a new reality show on CBS, I decided to audition. After years of trying to make it as solo artist, I thought this opportunity might provide my big break. Well, I didn’t win the competition to be the singer for INXS…I did one better and got my very own deal with Universal Classics. Born in the Philippines and raised in Sydney, Australia, I began playing the piano at age seven, but was quickly discouraged by my teacher, who informed me that without practice, I would never become a virtuoso. However, a chance meeting with a jazz musician opened up a world of possibilities! I was finally able to play the music I wanted, in the style I chose. I even wrote my own songs and played piano without having to perfect my Mozart! Who cares if I was never going to be a concert pianist? Stick that up your metronome, I was going to be a ROCKSTAR! .............................................................................. for more about me please visit my official site mig-music.com

New York, I'm home...

18 Dec 2007

I am writing this to you 30,000 ft in the air, on a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles, just about to start our descent into New York's JFK airport. I have come to the end of the first leg of this WE WILL ROCK YOU world tour, and I am so excited about seeing my wife again. It has been 3 months. Too long to be away from any loved one, especially your partner. I should have been coming home earlier, but I missed my connecting flight in Auckland due to a late departure from Sydney. In fact I was but a mere 1 minute late. I ran to the gate from my Qantas flight to my impending LA bound jumbo, to find it still on the ground, bridge attached, but the doors closed. I could see the pilots in the cockpit through the window at the terminal, and despite my frantic attempts to get them to let me on the flight, they pulled the bridge from the plane. I had to stay grounded that night and stay in Auckland for a day instead of Los Angeles for a night. At least the coffee is better in New Zealand.

This week, I flew from Auckland to Singapore on Monday. Did a whole bunch of publicity and interviews to promote the WWRY season there in March. Then on Tuesday flew from Singapore to Hong Kong. We did a huge press launch for the HK season (May '08) as well as a whole barrage of interviews and publicity calls. I even managed to go to the horse races on Wednesday night. Great fun when you win! On Thursday night I flew from Hong Kong to Sydney, wanting to spend a couple of days with my Mum & Dad, it being his birthday and all. I didn't really tell anyone I was coming home, because I really needed to make this family time. On Sunday I had to fly from Sydney back to Auckland to catch my original return flight to the states. You know what happened when I arrived in Auckland, but what I great trip I had. Thank you to all at Qantas, Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.

Okay, we're on our way down. I'm going to sign off for now. Nothing to really report for a while, so let me take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy holiday season. I promise I will.

Always love,

MiG
